Buy a Basal Body Thermometer

For around ten dollars, you can buy a basal body temperature thermometer, which will measure body temperature by tenths of degrees. This is important, as when a woman ovulates, there is usually an increase in temperature. Though the increase is subtle and hardly noticeable, the basal thermometer will detect it. With that information you will be able to figure out when you ovulate during your cycle and know for the next time around. Remember, this method alone cant predict ovulation, but can help you determine when you ovulate during your cycle.

Another way to predict your ovulation is to check your cervical mucus. This mucus changes as hormones fluctuate within a womans body. To check for this mucus wipe the area over the entrance to the vagina. Normally, the mucus is thick and sticky, but during ovulation it thins and becomes clear. The mucus stays this way for around two to three days, the time best for conceiving a baby. This is another method that is free but also not extremely accurate however, a woman can learn to recognize the mucus difference and be able to tell on her own when she is ovulating. This is also a good way to learn about your own personal body rhythm and combine it with counting the days in your cycle to get more accurate as you go on.
